In a recent Comic-Con panel, JJ Abrams talks a little about his upcoming movie and what a dream come true it is to finally be working with Steven Spielberg. That's great to hear, but now on to what everyone really wants to know. No actual footage has been shot yet.

While it is no surprise for Abrams to create a teaser trailer independently from a movie, I am surprised to hear that the movie has not begun filming and still expects to reach a Summer 2011 deadline. I am not doubting the film making abilities of JJ Abrams or Steven Spielberg, but I am slightly worried that time restraints during post-production might result in a movie that falls short of it's own potential through an overall lack of polish.

Shooting is set to start in September. Hopefully, that will be enough time to craft a polished, quality product.

On a brighter note, Abrams finally confirmed something he has been hinting at since the first interviews on Super 8.

"My favorite thing about the movie though is that someone will go to the theater and see the trailer and hopefully say, 'Oh my God, that looks bitchin' and have no idea they are starring in the movie."

I don't know about you, but to me that sounds like an amazingly fun concept for a movie. I really hope Super 8 lives up to all of it's potential.
